WASHINGTON June 22, 2011 The National Business Coalition
on Health (NBCH) announced its new Board elected at its Board of Governors
meeting this week. A non-profit organization of 53 employer-based health
coalitions, representing over 7,000 employers and more than 25 million
employees and their dependents across the United States, NBCH officers are
elected by their board peers based on proven leadership and commitment to the
Coalition, as well as their efforts to advance and strengthen the tenets of
value-based purchasing.
Carolyn Pare, president and CEO
of the Buyers Health Care Action Group (BHCAG), was re-elected to serve an
additional term as Chair. Re-elected executive committee members include: Vice
Chair Barbara Wallace, Virginia Business Coalition on Health; Immediate Past
Chair Cristie Travis, Memphis Business Group on Health; Secretary-Treasurer
Susan Szymanski, FrontPath Health Coalition; At-Large Representative Gary Rost,
Savannah Business Group on Health; and newly elected At-Large Representative Ron
Whiting, Wichita Business Coalition on Health Care.
Additional At-Large
Representatives to the board include incumbents Caryol Hendricks, Employers'
Health Coalition and Ron Whiting. Newly elected At-Large Representatives
include Larry Boress, Midwest Business Group on Health and Beverly Rossmiller,
Tri-State Health Care Coalition.
The efforts of these coalition
leaders are critical to bringing about meaningful change to realize a
market-based health care system focused on quality, accountability and affordability,
said Andrew Webber, president and CEO of NBCH. "The collective employer
action of coalitions is essential to improving our health care system through
value-based purchasing strategies."
