NBCH Elects New Officers for Board of Directors

"Buyers Health Care Action Group’s Carolyn Pare named board chair"


WASHINGTON — June 23, 2010 The National Business Coalition on Health (NBCH) announced its new Board elected at its Board of Governors meeting this week. A non-profit organization of nearly 60 employer-based health coalitions, representing over 7,000 employers and more than 25 million employees and their dependents across theUnited States, NBCH officers are elected by their board peers based on proven leadership and commitment to the Coalition, as well as their efforts to advance and strengthen the tenets of value-based purchasing.


Carolyn Pare, president and CEO of the Minneapolis-based Buyers Health Care Action Group (BHCAG), was named Chair. “It’s an honor and a privilege to work with an organization like NBCH,” said Carolyn Pare. “The organization’s initiatives have historically been at the forefront of innovation in health care, and the forward-thinking, collaborative approach that the member organizations bring to the table will be critical as the implementation of health care reform becomes a reality.”


Other elected executive committee members include: Vice Chair Barbara Wallace, Virginia Business Coalition on Health; Immediate Past Chair Cristie Travis, Memphis Business Group on Health; Secretary-Treasurer Susan Szymanski, FrontPath Health Coalition; and newly elected At-Large Regional Representatives — Cheryl DeMars, The Alliance; Gary Rost, Savannah Business Group on Health.


Additional Regional Representatives to the board include Ron Whiting, Wichita Business Coalition on Health Care and Marianne Fazen, Dallas/Fort Worth Business Group on Health.


“Collective employer action is critical to advancing health system reform through value-based purchasing,” said Andrew Webber, president and CEO of NBCH. “We are pleased that these coalition leaders will be instrumental in helping us bring about meaningful change to realize a market-based health care system focused on quality, accountability and affordability.”
