Ethicon Endo-Surgery Announces New Resource for Employers on Bariatric Surgery. Bariatric surgery interest among employers and their employees is increasing, and it is important to understand how to manage this appropriately. The American Association of PPOs now has a series of Issue Briefs available free on its web site discussing best practices in purchasing and managing a bariatric surgery benefit. While targeted to PPO health plans, the Issue Briefs highlight important considerations for self insured employers and any employer considering benefit design and quality issues for bariatric surgery.
AAPPO’s web site offers links to additional information, including benefit plan language from multiple health plans, and informational resources for patients, providers, and plans.
